The second-hand marketplace Users Express Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
